I understand one does not need to pay interest to get a better score, but does reporting a high balance or having more "experience" with multiple or even just a single high balance actually give a better score? We dont know every factor of scoring, which is why I pose this question. Similar files can have much different experiences with scoring changes. I mention this because I "feel" like while I spun my wheels at AZEO for over a year, that my scores did not climb to great heights while continuing on maintaining a consistent low balance history (I do also understand AZEO never "builds" your score), where with SO (two different profiles, I understand that, too, but bear with me) reported a high balance more than a few times and seems to always be hitting new all time highs and gains, even with a much less than the perfect AZEO. And this has happened on more than one occasion. When I had SO at AZEO his score was literally stagnant for months - like 6 months, maybe longer. Maybe the slightest fluctution (increase, but reviewing, I believe the score was like the exact same for many months). For example: EX he hit an all time high after reporting some high balances at EX F8 of 720. Now, again, after reporting some high balances for a few months, and still not even close to being at perfect AZEO, he has almost attained the same record high. He is at 717 now, but still has 1 revolver at 85% util. Crazy, right? No baddies have aged off in some time, since that record high 720, so it is not that. Does any one else feel that perhaps having some "experience" with high balances on one or multiple cards may also be a factor in scoring instead of always maintaining a perfect AZEO? Here is a snap shot of his gaining +22 pts on EX F8 for bringing down his CapOne balance from 101% to 1% ind util (but remember, he does now have Dell reporting at 85% ind util). Screenshot_20220112-173346_Experian.jpg Screenshot_20220112-173403_Experian.jpg Screenshot_20220112-173418_Experian.jpg Now, I do find it funny that he is given the positive code of "low credit use" where as I have the negative reason code of "high credit use", when I am at much lower agg util. Is this another sign of "experience" handling high reported balances vs not? I obviously need to comb through reports, and pinpoint DPs, but this has been weighing on my mind some, as I feel I am seeing a trend between observing both our reports over time. This will take a bit to figure out and type out.

I’m willing to bet the base score would’ve been the same either way. He may have hit aging thresholds that he would have anyway for instance.

I guess it just matters more on a new revolver scorecard, as I never saw that negative reason statement when on a no new revolver scorecard.

I agree with @Birdman above. There is no reason I can think of or way with the Fico algorithm that reporting higher balances (if at AZEO previously) would cause score gains. I also feel things like aging metrics could be at play. If higher balances were the cause of the score gains, there would be negative reason statements pointing to the lack of higher balances when they aren't present.

@BrutalBodyShots which version Bureau? Make a note of that difference in the scorecard, please. @LaHossBoss not only that if they were to use the high balance as a Scoring factor that could lead to claims of discrimination of the non-wealthy. Remember income is not allowed to be considered and this would be an indirect way of doing so and would be prohibited, imho.

TU4 is the one I was speaking on specifically.

@BrutalBodyShots there is no new revolver Scorecard on the Mortgage Scores. Those are new account Scorecards. And they have a longer window. Remember only a revolver causes the scorecard reassignment on the new scores where any account does so on the old ones.

Yes new account scorecard on an old score is when the reason code appeared. I have some new information to share as well for which I'll start a thread regarding negative reason codes related to TU4 and age of revolving accounts. I'm quite sure I've found a threshold!
