It had been > 6 months since my last Citi CLI, so I decided to request one. Denied, reason letter on its way. The last CLI I got on my DC card was very small, I want to say $1500 or 5% give or take. I tried to recon the CLI and was told I was at the maximum limit possible based on my profile. My exposure was/is almost exactly 1/3 of my income. I know that some have gotten to 40%+ with Citi, so I thought there would be a little more wiggle room. I will report back what the letter says when it comes. A lack of use of current limit would be a perfectly reasonable denial reason since I've given the card barely any use at all in the last 6 months while going through my suffix battle with Citi. If I do get a lack of use denial response, I wonder if I go forward with my Manufactured Balance idea of acquiring/paying off a $20k Citi Flex loan would push that reason aside if I were to request again...

No, it was definitely down this past 6 months. There were spans however where it was down in the past and I still received CLIs at 6 month intervals. So, it could either be because of low usage, or it could be that my limit is already as high as they're willing to go... which is sort of what was suggested to me last CLI.

It just seems inconsistent however that I've hit my ceiling when I'm at an exposure percentage lower than plenty of others IMO.

True, it could be a combinations of those things.

For Discover, I've read of reports where card holders did BTs. That may have triggered their computer to dish out more CLIs.

Perhaps, it may or may not work with Citi if you plan to do your Flex Loan?

I'd imagine the Flex Loan could definitely change the CLI game / help me break through the plateau. Unfortunately until Citi is able to resolve my suffix issue / fix reporting to TU I don't plan on pulling the trigger on the Flex Loan. I don't want it to only end up reporting to 2 of 3 bureaus. I received a response to my CLI denial via Citi documents on my account today. The reason given wasn't one I had even considered:

Too many recently opened accounts. To quantify that, I'm at 2/6 and 3/12. I guess for data point purposes I can try again in 3 weeks when I'm at 1/6 and if denied try again in 2 months when I'm at 0/6 to see if the 6 month mark is significant at all. If not, maybe 3/12 is a thing? My question then turns to anyone that's opened 3+ accounts in 12 months... have they been able to get a Citi CLI?

Tried again today, denied again. I will post the denial letter when I receive it. I'm assuming it will be the same reason as previous with too many new accounts, but we'll see.

50% seems about right, so I'd think there's still a small amount of room for growth. Looks like the new accounts could be what are holding that back though at this point.

Stopping back in to confirm that the denial letter again states too many recent accounts.

I guess I'll continue to try monthly as my X/6 and X/12 status improves and maybe then I'll be able to find a threshold point for that denial reason with Citi when the either grant a CLI or switch to giving me another denial reason.

Definitely let us know because it appears three is too much in six months. But then again you never know I could be maxxed. But I think that was too many.

I'm moving from 4/6 to 2/6 currently, so trying again in about a month would be a good test. I'll be at 1/6 not long after that.
