Length of Credit History "exceptional" rating threshold

Images below of "Very Good" on EQ/EX with AAoA of 7 years, 4 months and "Exceptional" on TU with AAoA of 7 years, 9 months. With my AoOA and AoYA being consistent across all 3B, just AAoA is the factor that should be singled out here. I will check in 2 months to see if at 7 years, 6 months EQ/EX tick up to exceptional and if a small point gain is realized at that time.

@BrutalBodyShots I have been over 10y, and currently at 8y Xm, as well as SO, and we are at "Good" or "Very Good". I believe it has more to do with AAoRA vs AAoA, overall.

Tough to say. What does your AAoRA run typically? When looking at the verbiage of the category it sounds like it covers all parts of age: Oldest, youngest, average. I would think that any single one of them that's not optimal could result in a lesser rating. For example, you've got some where your average is clearly greater than mine, but my oldest is greater than yours. I'm not sure how the combination of those factors together would work in terms of a rating.

Those screenshots are missing AoYA though, which is 1 of the 3 factors that need to be considered. Also as we know there are different aging thresholds across different scoring models, so comparing one to another may not always make sense. I get what you're saying though just looking at those graphics, but I do believe there is a bit more to it.

That's consistent with something Thomas_Thumb said about an Experian Plus report showing 7yr8mo as the high point. It might just be 7yr6mo, since so often we see these AAoA gains at an age that's a multiple of 6. He also said: Age of oldest can play a role on weighting of AAoA. Great overall thread on AAoA there, and I believe you were the OP in it!

My most extreme example is the first set of SS. It shows, at best, "very good" for 9y 5m AAoA, w/ most recent account opening at 6y 2m. Why does that not cross into 'exceptional'? And Amount of new credit is it's own section to be ranked, but is also being considered for "Credit History Length"? Yet, same bureau gave "exceptional" at 10y 9m, and most recent account 6m. To me, that means that for me to get an exceptional ranking, I have to cross 10y AAoA, and most recent account opening really matters much less or perhaps not at all because it is already given a rank under a different section.

I do recall starting that thread. Wow, nearly 5 years ago. Where has that time gone?

My guess would be because the oldest account isn't old enough to satisfy "exceptional" along with the other 2 factors.

AoYA seems to be scored under the new credit category for the old scores and probably the new scores. AoYRA seems to have began with 8 & also seems to be scored on new credit.

Thresholds could be different based on scorecard.
