I decided to grab my 28 scores now since tomorrow (last day of the month) USB will be reporting a new "high balance" for me and I wanted a before/after pull to see the impact of that single highest utilization card change.
With the pull from today, I have quite a few more AWB than my previous pull earlier this month (so no aging factors changed). Dollar amounts are more or less irrelevant since we're talking all small balances, so we can look to just AWB. My starting point was AZEO from my previous pull. Reported balances are a little inconsistent because the end of the month is very busy for me with reporting, so based on bureau I had a few accounts that had/hadn't updated at the time of the pull. Open accounts on my CR are 1 mortgage, 1 HELOC, 9 BC, 1 store card. The mortgage and HELOC as far as AWB remained the same (mortgage has a balance, HELOC does not). This is what changed exactly, per bureau:
Experian: 1 BWB --> 7 BWB and 0 SWB --> 1 SWB (9 total AWB)
TransUnion: 1 BWB --> 5 BWB and 0 SWB --> 1 SWB (7 total AWB)
Equifax: 1 BWB --> 6 BWB and 0 SWB --> 1 SWB (8 total AWB)
Before/after score variances are shown below:
A few takeaways:
As we already knew, EX8 doesn't care about BWB. It seems EX Auto 8 doesn't either, but we can't say all EX 8s don't as EX BCE8 is impacted heavily as shown.
For EX8 being bulletproof to BWB, it's interesting that most other EX scores are heavily impacted by them.
All BCE8s are impacted more by BWB than BCE9s
My TU9 and EQ9 scores were 850 to start, so with "hidden points" losses due to BWB increases couldn't be seen like they could on EX.
I do challenge the blanket statement we've always said that "mortgage scores are more sensitive [than Classic 8s] to BWB changes. While my scores prove that to be true 2/3 of the time with EX/TU, as can be seen I lost more points on EQ8 than I did on EQ5.
