Cassie Birdman BrutalBodyShots Slabenstein Kkboom Saeren Ok - I am MIND-BLOWN right now! Look at my SLs from a particular servicer from October to Nov. No payment posted between the two statements: Screenshot_20211123-200223_Drive.jpg Screenshot_20211123-200155_Drive.jpg How did my SLs DROP around $11k!? I am obviously thrilled about this, but quite frankly - I am terrified it will be clawed back! This is well over a 2 year (probably closer to 3 or 4 years due to accruing interest) leap in repayment just paying the minimum monthly payment of $502! This brings me ever closer to 100% util instead of the original 150-250%+ util which was simply crushing. Allnpayments went to interest and never touched principal and now it shows both principal and interest has had a significant reduction! This will hopefully help towards the dream of one day buying a home because I knew SL balances would always be a hurdle I would have to overcome in UW. I have heard of some people saying their loans were forgiven (not partially) recently out of the blue, but they were either disabled or something else restrictive, like the bad schools that weren't accredited or gave false info. Also, SO has SLs through the same servicer from around the same time and has had no such changes. He owes significantly less, just under 9k, if that matters. Thoughts!?

Are you saying the balances get reduced on the credit report but not on the account statements from Navient? I wonder if it has something to do with this: Navient is forgiving the student debt of 66,000 borrowers. How to know if you’re one of them I mean, even if none of that applies to you specifically, maybe there's an error somewhere in their update code. [EDIT: I noticed that Navient reached a settlement recently with around 39 states. "Navient denies...." = SKETCHY. lol ]
What I am saying is it does not show anywhere a credit. It just shows a lower balance on the current statement than the prior statement. This was the same with NMSL for both me and SO a few months ago (when I originally made this post). No payment or credit reflected, just a much lower balance for each loan. Some towards interest and some towards principle for all loans. The Navient forgiveness does not apply to me. I originally thought it may have been adjustments from doing rehab, because they remove the default fees, like collections fees, and some other stuff, but these *were* reflected as credits on stataments and within the online accounts right after the loans were transferred. There is no reflection of any adjustments on the statements or in the online accounts, like that, just lowered balances for the interest and principle and overall.

Oh ok....the lower balance shows up but not the reason why. I would think this would also be happening to a lot of people on Reddit, since their demographic skews more toward recent college graduates. Look through this search and see if anything comes up? https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A ... %2Bnavient

You can see the original adjustment after the loans were transfered. This is not the same as the recent reduction. And you can see in activity it is not reflected in "account activity".

@Cassie , I have done a lot of research through Reddit, and found nothing. The only cancelation, has generally been for the total amount of the loans, and for those that went to those sketchy colleges, that probably have always qualified for loan cancelation. It has also been for those that have total disability. They have been going through those on disability and canceling their SL debt. Nothing about random people getting a partial amount of their loans forgiven for no reason. And it isn't just Navient, it was also through my state, NM, at NMSL, who did it first for me and then shortly after for SO. Also, no reason they should have canceled part of his debt. And it is all over the place, the amounts. My NMSLs, as seen above, were lowered by over $10k and SO's NMSLs were slashed around $3k. This round with Navient for me was just over $4.5k. My 3rd and last set of SLs are still in default, but off my credit reports. Not sure what will happen to them. I will start rehab right before the payment pause is up, which there is rumor to be extended again. SO's payments have been on pause and his 2nd set of SLs are with Navient, but with no info. So, I am not sure how I can find out if he will get a random reduction on this set of SLs, except to wait and see on his CRs.

I thought you probably did that already, but I just wanted to make sure anyway! :) I wouldn't want to call Navient and ask about it either. In fact, I'd probably be afraid to post about it on Reddit, thinking that Navient people might read it and hunt down my file and reverse it all. Yeah, this would bother me every single day that I didn't have a concrete answer.

I’m not saying there wasn’t a common thread, I just don’t know what it was. I’ve just read a couple reports here and there, it could’ve been because of disability or the school.

@Cassie @Birdman Exactly! I do *not* want to draw any attention to myself. If they adjust it back, so be it, but I dont want to be the cause of it! Hopefully it just sticks!
