Moved to housing on a lake. That said, yesterday I refused to change my walking path around the lake and hissed and growled at the geese ... they moved. Went out onto the fishing pier and found three Loons. One caught a fish in its beak not 10 feet away. Fun to watch how it digested the fish (it was dad). He feeds the Baby Loon following him around. Then if that was not enough, I saw a Wood Chuck being chased by two really small birds and it seems he ate their eggs from the nest. They were dive bombing him until he crawled under a wood pile (chicken). Wow! Fell into a nature's half acre for sure. Update, the MN DNR was contacted, and they came and trapped three wood chucks and relocated them. Hmm ... seems to me they were doing what is natural to the "food chain" ... :(

At my office we get ill tempered geese in the spring and fall, couple years ago had one of them attack me and my co-worker walking to deli across the street, the thing tore her pant leg and drew blood I kicked it and it flew back a ways and hissed at me... Co-worker asks why did you kick it? I asked her standing there bleeding what exactly she would have done had I not? Learned 2 things that lunch break, geese are the honey badgers of the sky and gives no fucks about attacking anything, and some people have no survival skills... Glad you are having fun watching your descendants around the lake.

I'm with co-worker. I probably even would have brought the goose some food because I felt sorry. (This is also explains why I cannot make it in the corporate world.) I took this picture outside a Meijer grocery store near a friend's house. They're always there in fall/winter. I never fed them, but I am tempted to buy a cabbage or some lettuce and make peace with these illegal Canadian migrants. Image

Do I understand about your giving the critter a boot! Geese are not shy about letting the intruder know what is. Run into them every day around the lake and I "hiss" and "growl" which has backed off the whole flock. Will not move for them so it is a push. They have backed down so far. There are a lot of them and if they wanted to gang up on me it may not be fun. They sure do know how to tear up human skin. Really believe there are way too many of them but that would be a whole nother' subject. :(

"Stand your ground" is actually one of the most common 'top 5' things recommended to do when encountering an aggressive goose. I did not know that before tonight! (I had to look up "can a goose cut you" and went down a little rabbit hole. lol) I always ran away, and apparently this just made the goose think I was more of a danger.

My grandfather tells me all about how the geese are “dirty birds” every time I go to visit him in Michigan. I went out the golf course with him one time and there was goose 💩 everywhere!

Pretty sure that's where Canada stores all their impolite behavior and intrusive thoughts.
