So I am thinking of trading in my 2018 f150 for the 2023 f150 powerboost

My trade in is 27-28k, has anyone ever gotten a dealer to instead give them a 500 dollar trade in and then knocked 27k off the price? At 10% sales tax this is effectively a 2,700 dollar discount the dealer doesn't pay. Is this even legal?

I'm a (sedan) car guy, not a truck guy.

Vehicle choice aside have you ever heard of a dealer knocking the price down on a vehicle and giving you basically no trade-in instead? Basically with a large trade in that is giving me a large rebate without costing them anything, and when they sell the truck they just make it right back.

It's definitely fraud. lol It's the same as privately selling a car to someone and writing down a much lower sale amount than what you received. Even when a state's DMV doesn't bother to check Blue Book values, it's still technically illegal, and I can't imagine a licensed dealer even attempting it. The house (state) always wins!

lol @ prius driving soy eating propaganda Well, I said should marry. Which means most of us are hopping right on up into that red w/black trim, Ram 2500 Rebel with the turbo diesel. Also, my inhibitions virtually disappear around an idling Dodge Charger Hellcat and I'm convinced that's due to some patriarchal conspiracy. And then when I got into one, I felt the need to vacuum the interior, maybe dust the dashboard.

So dodges are your thing huh? Tell me you have a crush on your local tow truck driver, without telling me you have a crush on your local tow truck driver. when you buy a new dodge... Do they just throw a spare transmission in the trunk to save time or do you just take delivery from the transmission mechanic?

So in a unrelated conversation on reddit someone else mentioned my sales tax thought is already what happens with trade-ins essentially I was thinking of a solution to a problem that doesn't exist! So now I just need to aggressively pay down my loan to maximize my trade in value relative to my new purchase price and then decide if a private sale is worth more than the tax savings of a trade in.

She would have a hard time finding a husband around here in rural west Texas. I can't think if a man in this town who has bought a car newer than 8 years old as his main transportation. A guy in a car is either still driving a hand-me-down from his mom, or he just had to buy whatever cheap vehicle he could find to get him by . . . or he's driving his wife's car at the moment. Ok, there are a handful with sports cars . . . but most of them also have trucks. Probably half of the women have trucks/SUVs as primary vehicles too.

Toyotas have gained acceptance around here. I see LOTS of Tundras and Tacomas. I have considered buying a Tacoma, but never did. Their SUVs are pretty common too. Not near as many Toyotas as Chevy/Ford/Dodge, of course. A Cybertruck would be a different story. I did see one driving by on the highway here once. I think there might be a charging station here. Maybe one, in a town of 11,000 people. I'd have to look to confirm that. I've never seen a vehicle in there, so it might have gone out of business.

I couldn't make it all the way through that song....I just can't listen to modern country. It's just not my scene. At least it wasn't that country pseudo rap that seems pretty popular in my locale once you get 15 minutes outside of town.

Love it mgood! I live in mining country where the "men are men" and the women are too. No gorgeous babes here! Oh yeah, the women drive trucks and SUVs not cars. That is a stero type left over from the Baby Boomer Generation
