Anyone know if MF 3B reports/scores are possible when you have your reports frozen? In July I froze my 3B for the first time ever. I just went to do a 3B report/score pull from MF and got a message that my order can't be processed unless I upload photo ID. Anyone know if my frozen reports are causing this? I did a pull at the beginning of July with no issues and the only thing I can think of that's changed since then was the freeze on my files. My understanding was that with a freeze SPs could still be done for CMS purposes and that it was only to prevent HPs. Was I incorrect in my understanding? Do I need to thaw my reports before grabbing my 28 scores from MF? Should I send them the ID? I feel like I shouldn't have to, since it hasn't been an issue before...

I just emailed MF BTW asking what the deal was and if I had to unfreeze my reports. I also complained because my card was already charged (pending) when the order hasn't even gone through yet...

Absolutely not my reports have been frozen for years and I’ve never had a problem pulling from any CMS. Except credit.com when it started.

I don’t know if it’s triggering the verification or not or why though. I guess it’s kind a hard to deny identifying yourself and verifying right, but I wonder if they’re just screwing with you.

When I tried MF for a month, I did have to remove my freezes for them to get the first reports. It was fine after that.

MF isn’t an existing creditor so they cannot SP with a frozen report. I’m assuming that the first SP gives them a window with which to grab reports going forward.

Anyone with a legitimate business purpose can legally softpull while frozen, must be technical. For example insurance companies do it all the time. The freeze only stops a hard inquiry, it doesn’t even stop a new account. However, now that @Saeren mentions it, I stand corrected: I do recall several people having to unfreeze or unlock for the first pull from MF. I don’t know why that is because other CMSs are able to do it the first time while frozen, but credit.com had that same problem. So maybe for some profiles the first consumer SP has to be unfrozen when from a new CMS? Not sure why. But I do recall that now that he reminds me.

Incorrect. There are a variety of types of SPs. Just to give one example, promotional inquiries are SPs and they do it all day long whether you are a customer or have ever been a customer or not, for both insurance and credit companies. Insurance SPs from any insurance company can be done while frozen even if you’ve never been a customer. @Saeren That’s not exhaustive, just an example.

I said creditor for a reason. Promotional inquiries are done by the CRA per matching terms chosen by the creditor and so they don’t count as being done by the creditor.

I guess it depends on how you look at it. It lists the creditor. Either way I never had to unfreeze for other CMSs, just credit.com & MF.

I'm going to unfreeze all 3 and then try MF again. It will be good practice for me anyway, as I've only frozen once and have never unfrozen them. I don't want to send them a pic of my ID. If for no other reason it will involve a human being, and it's their automated system that's been screwing up repeatedly and giving me full refunds. I'll like to not poke the sleeping bear and miss out on the sweet gig I've had going for over a year... lol

These idiots at MF... So the membership is currently pending awaiting my ID upload. I contacted CS and told them I am not going to upload the ID, so please cancel my requested membership and remove the pending charge from my CC. They said no can do, I must wait the 7 days which is the period of time to upload the ID. I said even if I'm telling you now that I'm not going to upload the ID and don't want the membership and they said yes, I still have to wait.

That's what I did... last night I did a temporary thaw from 8/3-8/5 because today 8/4 I was going to do a 28 score pull... but, now I can't, because the last membership attempt is still pending. So, I need to wait for those 7 days to pass and of course by then my temporary thaw is done, so I'll have to do that again. Just irritating that someone at MF can't bang out a couple of key strokes and cancel my pending membership. Just seems silly.
