Incorrect employer reported

Is there any CMS that displays employers reported by account?

I recently had a new employer pop up on my (TU) report. First off, the employer is incorrect. I don't work for them nor have I ever. Furthermore, the entity listed as my employer went out of business 18 years ago. I'd like it removed from my report, but I'd have to first figure out which lender is reporting it.

The alert for the new employer popped up right after my BoA and CU HELOC accounts reported a few days ago. My guess is it's the HELOC since that's sort of an odd duck account compared to the many revolvers I have... so I'd imagine my CU is the one with the incorrect employer info.

So it was my CU, I verified that with them. They are being difficult in making the change though, stating "employer info doesn't impact your credit." Well duh, I know that and that's not my concern... I just don't want inaccurate info on my CR, and what's reported is inaccurate. Then she goes on to tell me that the [inaccurate] employer info isn't coming from the new HELOC, is coming from an old auto loan I had with them. That loan was from maybe 2003-2007, so it's been off my CR for several years. I have no idea how that could matter. So I told her there was no employer information on my CR from you guys for 20 years... then when I open a HELOC employer info lands on my CR that isn't from the HELOC app, but incorrect information from a loan I had 15 years ago? She kept getting tongue tied and couldn't answer my questions. I'm going to email the LO that I dealt with for the HELOC since he was pretty sharp and hopefully he can square things away.

Depending on how large the CU is and how they're set up, the phone reps may not have the training or access levels to get you real answers. Hopefully the LO is able to help you, or at least knows who in the credit union to go to to get it fixed. My spouse has a really bonkers employer listed on their TU, but we've never bothered to try to figure out who's reporting it. It's just some gibberish letters and part of an old phone number.

Yeah you're probably right about the scope of the front end CSRs at the CU. We'll see if the LO comes through for me.

I don't think it would ever really impact anything, but if one of my lenders upon a MR look at my employer and it's a place that went under nearly 20 years ago it could be a bit of a head-scratcher.

I still have Arby’s listed on one report and I haven’t worked there since like 2003 and Comcast is on the other two and I left there in 2009. Doesn’t bother me.

I hear you. If my current employer were listed it wouldn't bother me really, but when it lists my only employer as one that hasn't been in business for nearly 20 years I'm not a fan.

At least Arby's and Comcast are still relevant today.
