This thread is dedicated to building a master list of Credit Monitoring Services (CMS) and a quick rundown of what they provide, such as credit reports, report monitoring, credit scores and so on. I will start with a section on free sources, followed by a section on paid/subscription sources. I think this thread will be a great reference for those just getting into credit that want different ways to monitor their files. Anyone that uses or knows of other sources, please reply to this thread with information. I'll add them to the first post to keep the master list growing and all inclusive: Free Sources: Credit Karma : Daily TU / Weekly EQ reports, monitoring and VS 3.0 scores. Credit Sesame : TU monitoring, VS 3.0. WalletHub : Daily TU reports, monitoring and VS 3.0 score. Creditscorecard.com : EX monitoring, monthly update w/EX Fico Score 8. Creditscore.com : EX monitoring, monthly update w/EX Fico Score 8. Experian.com : Appears to be the same as Creditscore.com above? AnnualCreditReport free weekly credit reports until April 2022. No FICO scores. Paid Sources: CreditCheckTotal which I believe is part of Experian.com. $1 trial for 3 bureau FICO 8 scores and reports. Cancel in 7 days or less to avoid the re-occurring monthly charge. Wash, Rinse, Repeat as necessary. myFICO.com - Different packages available, but for $29.99 you can get a 3B report and 28 Fico scores to go along with it.

They have multiple trial offers. One is 7 days (but they don't bill for 10 days), two are 30 days (don't bill for 33 I think). I haven't been able to figure out what the trigger is for a certain offer but basically they have Credit Works Premium, Identity Works Premium, and they also have a Credit Works that had an annual 3 bureau refresh instead of a monthly one (this is the one they always offer me now).

So I guess they target different people with different offers. I've never really paid attention, but I suppose I will going forward.

I can walk into DCU now. Anyone want anything?

Check out a Vanguard Cash Reserves MMF - pays better than any bank can/will do and on unlimited funds, like an emergency fund that contains a year of salary. Minimums are down to $3000 now. Used to be $10k a few years ago.

Thanks all! This is great stuff. I’m actually trying to learn about investing instead of just using my savings account so I’ll try to get more info on Vanguard. Also I’ll be switching from MF monthly to Experian free trial, rinse and repeat; and saving the $480 annually. I don’t need all of those reports every month. Some I get free and I’ve basically reached my goals anyway. Time to start being a bit more frugal as I transition into the next phase which includes college😊.

Decided to try credit.com's extra credit service this weekend since they have a free trial. The mobile app interface is okay, not great but not terrible either. Unfortunately, my TransUnion report data is not populating. I have an open ticket with support, but no updates yet. Just figured I'd give everyone a head's up of my experience so far.

Thanks, @aj2121 , I wanted to try that as well so I'm interested in your opinions of it.

I wanted to play around in the system for a while before giving a full review of it, but here is my takeaway. It is good for getting all (maybe) scores for free. And that is about the only positive. Your bureaus cannot be frozen, apparently, for them to pull your scores. All bureaus were frozen when I signed up and I never received my TU scores. I lifted the freeze on TU and left it unfrozen for several days after contacting support letting them know I never received my TU scores and I still have never received any TU scores. Support never responded to my multiple emails, even after I cancelled my trial and put the reason as being unable to access my TU scores. There is no phone number to contact support. My wife did sign up for an account as well with none of her bureaus frozen and she received all scores immediately )it takes about 2 minutes to populate account data for the first time.) The layout of the information is very simplistic, much more so than Experian and it seems harder to parse key data at a quick glance. On the plus side, swapping between TU, EX, and EQ is very fast and does not require the page to be reloaded. I do wish there was a comparison feature to look at the bureaus and the reports side-by-side. There is also a download full credit report button, but the credit report it generates is very generic and has a poor layout. Loans on the downloadable report do not have the initial amount, just the current balance. The homepage only displays your EX F9 score, if you want to see more scores you have to click on the "track it" tab and then navigate to the proper bureau. The homepage is more of a promotion for their other services "build it", "reward it", "guard it", and "restore it". "Build it" allows you to self report rent and utilities and "boost" your score that way. "Reward it" is a marketplace for ridiculous offers for High APR credit products that will provide you with a pre-paid debit card if you sign up for one of the offers and satisfy the reward criteria. One offer was for $165 if you get a personal loan through opploans, don't worry one of the benefits of this personal loan is it is "Capped at 199% Interest"... "Guard it" is the identity monitoring suite. It lets you know if any personal data was exposed and when and where it was exposed, kind of... It indicates that my SSN was exposed last year via "the internet"; this alert does not show up on Experian's service or any other identity protection services I have used. Therefore, I do not believe the alert to be accurate. "Restore it" encourages you to dispute any negative information through CreditRepair.com with a $24.99 discount. The charge offs on my wife's account are legitimate and I highly doubt disputing through CreditRepair.com would provide any benefit to her. If anything changes on your report you are not alerted to it and you will only receive score and report updates once a month. If anyone has any questions or wants more details let me know!
