So I just got a collection notice from Waypoint saying I have 30d to pay $161 for an old Comcast bill before they report to the bureaus. I find this odd because I got Comcast service over 2 years ago and when I signed up (and like previously when signing up) they make you pay any past due balance before establishing service with them again. I will have to dig through my records, ASAP, but does anyone have experience or knowledge about Waypoint? It is definitely outside SOL and I last had service with Comcast in 2014+/-. So, not sure why there was no disclaimer about not reporting old debt, but they claim they will report after 30d from notice, which was 7/27/21. Also, the last CA that had this account came off my credit reports right after I re-established service with Comcast 2+ years ago....meaning again, I believe the balance was paid and they removed the CA at that time. I will also look at the old credit reports that had the old Comcast CA to see what the DoFD/estimated date of removal was. BrutalBodyShots Birdman Allzero Slabenstein

I guess I have to get back to the grind trying to have it removed. I will have to contact Comcast again and get some sort of proof stating that I did not have any account with them on the date that WayPoint claims I did. It is not right to be stuck with a CA that is truly not mine to drag my EQ scores down for the next 17 months. I just hope this does not illicit a 3B "update" by WayPoint to re-insert themselves back into my TU and EX CRs. Grrr!

I did think it was interesting that EQ called it a "reinvestigation" in the dispute results. This was my first time disputing it with them.

I guess I can only *hope* that maybe because the other 2 bureaus deleted it (EX did immediately, so I am not counting on them, but TU did do a full investigation - I think) that will maybe push WayPoint to update all 3Bs by deleting regardless of the EQ findings. I am just struggling to understand how the TU investigation came back with a deletion, but EQ came back verified. Maybe TU just deleted without a true "investigation"?

@LaHossBoss no the investigation is done when they enter the information into your credit report initially. When you do a dispute, that is called a re-investigation always. That’s just the nomenclature. Now, if this is really a illegitimate collection, it is causing you injury by precluding you from obtaining credit products or precluding you from obtaining them at better terms/rates. That can be actionable at law potentially.

Would a CFPB complaint related to incorrect information on credit report be a path to consider?

I am going to dig around a bit more with Comcast for some tangible proof and then I certainly will consider filing a CFPB complaint.

That's a good idea. The more you have to upload when you file a CFPB complaint the better.

Just some food for thought....(You probably already know but I can't remember if we already touched on this previously- sorry if so) @LaHossBoss there are fines for incorrect reporting. (up to $1000??/per item) A consumer attorney went this route with my report on all 3b's when Calvary re-aged something and I was notified of a false pymt through CK and Exp. He had me take screenshots and send to him. He already had my previous cr's I gave him earlier. I did and within like 6 days POOF! all gone, completely removed. Not corrected....removed! Guess he threatened them in ways I had no way of knowing how to. If you can't make headway, call around and find a Consumer Attorney and ask them to pursue the issue with the original creditor and all that follow. (Let your attorney have the fines awarded to cover charges if need be.)
