A nice surprise this month at Experian. Score gains across the board with no change in account data on the 1st! Still with 3-of-4 reporting a balance at 3% (3.499 actual) agg util, $1,452 agg bal, and 9.422% ind util on Discover ($848) which is 9% for FICO scoring. I think the move to AAoA 2yr 6mo is what caused this. Here are the other aging values: AoOA: 3yr 9mo AoORA: 2yr 9mo AoOOA: 2yr 9mo AoY(R)A: 1yr 7mo AAoA: 2yr 6mo <-- Winner winner chicken dinner ||8|BC8|AU8|2|BC2|AU2|3 |-|-|-|-|-|-|-|-| |EX|+2|+2|+3|+6|+7|+5|+2| |NOW|765|773|760| 761 |778|735|749|

I'd like to see that. The referenced 48 month scoring gain of 27 points on EX8 seems quite a bit stronger than I would have expected, which makes me question how clean the data point was on that. Said differently, perhaps the person that reported it had other things going on with their file that coincided with the AAoA change/score gain.

All those thresholds I listed in that post were ones where people saw a score gain. It may or may not have been due to AAoA alone. In fact, ChemE_Bear also mentioned this: "My non-AU AAoA also went from 1y11mo to 2 years, which I'm not sure matters" AAoA 2yr0mo was also good for me across most of 28 scores, so yes, AAoA 2yr0mo can matter a lot.

That's sort of what I was thinking, which unfortunately waters down those data points.

Oh yes, definitely it does. The blank ones need to be marked 'suspect' or something. I just posted it at MF to identify the ones that needed more testing, in case someone read it was coming up on one of those thresholds. I get to add an AAoA 3yr0mo data point in March 2022. I hope that's worth something!

I know this data point is a bit dirty, but I recently passed 3.5 years AAoA and 2 years AoORA and on the same day my loan balance crossed the 9.x% threshold. I gained 43 points total. Today that loan closed and I lost 34 points. To further dirty it I had also stopped using Experian boost during the time I was in peak loan util%. Despite the loss of boost I am above were I was when my loan was over 10% and hadn't yet crossed the thresholds. So either Experian likes closed loans more than it likes loans at 10.x% with almost 2 years on them, or AAoA hitting 3.5 years is a thing, or AoORA hitting 2 years is a thing, or both, or possibly all three.

AWB changed from almost all to one with no point changes along the way, there weren't any AWB changes during any score change except if you count the loan closing as an AWB change.

Aug31 EX-F8 Boosted 753
Sept 1st-12th EX-F8 Boosted 796 (+46)
Sept 13th-Oct 1st EX-F8 Unboosted 793 (-3)
Oct 3rd EX-F8 Unboosted 759 (-34)

So with that I can guess that AAoA + AoORA combined is worth a bit over 10 points for me. I would guess that the AoORA couldn't be worth that all by itself especially since I doubt AAoRA did anything, but I haven't calculated it. I can verify it tomorrow as I have that spreadsheeted at work. My guess is that AAoRA was about 0.9 years, or ~10-11 months.

@DustinD I believe 24 months AoORA Is a threshold as well as 108 months AAoRA. I don’t believe AAoA 42 months is anything but I could be wrong. Yes the loan closing does reduce AWB by one. It’s a shame it was conflated. Definitely got your 10% loan points and then lost all of your loan points which would’ve been more than the 10% because of the minor thresholds. No way to know how much everything was for sure.

I meant ~0.9 years not 9 years. I edited my post for clarity. Once I add a few more accounts I can test that threshold again.

I read right over the point my bad. I should’ve realized that wasn’t possible, but like I said I’m not 100%. But the information is still good. Let us know when you retest the threshold please.

Seeing your credit score improve with no changes to your account data is a pleasant surprise. It seems like your careful management of your credit accounts and utilization has paid off. Your utilization rate is quite low, and those aging values you mentioned, especially the move to a 2-year 6-month Average Age of Accounts (AAoA), likely played a significant role in the score increase. Keep up the good work with your credit management, and you'll continue to see positive results! Why didn't you look for the lawyers that sue experian? They're very helpful, usually.
