Yeah, it might as well be in its own topic now. lol I knew I would have to explain it eventually, since that other topic is getting a lot of hits from Google search and many of those people will be new to credit in general. Through Experian's credit monitoring service (CMS for everyone else), you can 'Visit the Dispute Center' by clicking a button on the page that shows up at Credit->Credit Reports (menu bar at the top). On that page you'll see the following after clicking the Inquiries tab: In my first year of revolving credit history, I saw a lot of soft pulls (SPs) from Merrick Bank(don't do it), Credit One (don't), and Capital One. As my credit score improved to 740+ they stopped bothering to check. lol Edit to add: Full credit reports from https://www.annualcreditreport.com will also show all these soft pull inquiries. Be careful when searching for 'annual credit report' on search engines! There are a lot of sites out there trying to trick people into paying for those reports. AnnualCreditReport.com is the only one that matters.

@Cassie Thank you for that. I just did it on my computer and it worked wonderfully. A bit disconcerting to click on "File a Dispute". The only things in my Soft Inquiries list are account reviews, CMS pulls and USAA who I burned in BK7 and don't have any accounts with. No marketing inquiries.

I really wish they had figured out a way to portal that service through a .gov address. It would have made it harder to scam people. When I set my bookmark for that site I searched for "ftc free annual credit report" went to the .gov site (https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/free-credit-reports) found the direct link there and bookmarked it. That way I don't have to worry about mistyping the address or doing a quick search on a search engine and clicking through to the wrong site. Carefully bookmarking important sites once means not having to worry as much many times later.

A little bit, but since you don't actually have to go through with it and actually file a dispute it's all good. I remember getting a ban for talking about this on MF when I specifically said no do not need to actually file a [wrongful] dispute. Evidently that was too much for them.

@BrutalBodyShots the fact that additional information is available through the dispute center interface means they expect a certain percentage of users to determine that they don't have a dispute after looking around in there. It's unfortunate that they labelled the button "Start a Dispute" with the sub-title of dispute center. The wording could be better.

I agree that it could be presented better.

I just found it ridiculous that at that other place it was not cool (and ban-worthy) to discuss the filing of a wrongful dispute, but I reprimanded there for specifically stating that I was not posting suggesting that anyone file a wrongful dispute and that you can see your soft pulls without having to actually having to start a dispute.

Equifax also offers soft inquiry information freely on its website. Anyone have any idea how to get it from/for TransUnion? I know we can, for the time being, get this free once a week from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/, but I find the whole process of getting it through that site cumbersome. Then there's the whole discussion "what's the point?" Yes, we all know that these don't factor into scoring. I think it's useful to winnow out the serious "you've prequalified for our Hyper Galactic Titanium card" when I see that the financial institution has done some spadework. This card doesn't do anything for me. It only rebates 2% on space travel.

Just act like you're starting a dispute and you can clearly see all your SPs. Same thing with EX.

It’s ridiculous how that’s presented and it’s ridiculous that they banned people for talking about it just because somebody might accidentally file a dispute and cause the bureau’s automated e-Oscar system to use a few cycles on their server. Total bs that’s one of the reasons they suck in my opinion.
