Forums Changes
We’d like to announce that the community will now be moderated by Khoros (as of 1PM Tuesday January 17, 2023), a third-party company that will help facilitate the myFICO® Forums. What’s changing
Khoros will be providing moderation services for the myFICO Forums as of today, Tuesday 1/17. The new moderators will be supporting the community by providing community support, moderation, and platform support. The moderation role will not be providing any content-related support or credit guidance.

The current volunteer moderator team will be migrated to a new role called Community Credit Mentors. This new role is to provide credit guidance.

I guess enough of us left that they took notice! Have you seen how many Anonymous people they have? Lots of account deletions.

I was thinking about nuking my profile and turning anonymous over there.

For the record, I'm staying here. They had their chance when previous people complained and left. I also have a husband now and I'd rather not sacrifice my time with him to help a corporation gather data to make their algorithms screw us over better.

This is a much better place. Too corporate over there.

I actually liked all the mods as people, I just thought they took it too far with their moderation. I would go and get a beer with any one of them although there are some CLs I certainly wouldn't (and that's what caused the problem with the mods). KiB was actually the one to reach out to me to try to keep me from leaving when I got a temp ban after defending myself against someone else's attacks after making a report on that person expecting the mods to do something (which I can fully admit was going too far, especially since I was not nice about how long the post had been left up relative to how quickly a lot of other things come down, but this attack just rubbed me that badly and that person had irritated me a lot before that -- I will say, from how long they were offline, I believe they got a longer ban than I did, mine was a 72 hour slap on the wrist that still filled me with rage). I know who it was who banned me just by the message I received and the way it was worded and I got the impression that KiB didn't want to have me banned and was overruled. Honestly, and this might be super petty but whatever, I just got tired of my informative picture posts being downsized to useless by a certain mod and when I saw Cassie was gone, on top of everyone else I knew that was banned or left, I said fuck it and read in Smorgasbord Cassie's posts about deleting her account and followed her lead after I was already here.

They updated the Moderators, Community Credit Mentors and Community Leaders post. Credit Mentors: Our credit mentors are volunteers that started as community members. They have been selected by the myFICO® Forums staff to foster community, help answer questions, keep the threads active and orderly, and help the moderators keep the community healthy. I'm sure they'll find a way to be inconsiderate anyway. lol I'd like to add that my position has always been that it's ok to mention any other forum in posts here, and that hasn't changed. @Birdman may feel different about that, but I think it's cool with him as well. I just didn't want anyone to feel like they had to use something like "that other forum" to refer to myFICO Forums. It's totally cool to link to something over there. It's not like any other forum can afford - or even cares - to add all the features I have in the works now. We'll be fine no matter what.

Got all excited I saw the tool who I will politely refer to as a twatwaffle lost his job. Turns out it was all of them. In a conceptual sense this is actually a smart move on myFICO’s part “Mod” implies a certain level of affiliation to the company, to then have said mod team handing out credit advice on the company forum that effectively generates credit scoring lends a certain credibility to that advice, that could cause them issues if that advice turns out to be wrong, or simply not followed correctly. It also lends itself to issues with credit issuers when what amounts to official company representatives are telling their potential customers how to game the system. By having a third party service not involved in handing out credit advice or content at all they can wash their hands of it. Now the new issue is what sort of KPIs will myFICO have in place paying for moderation comes with it the expectation those mods will be performing moderation actions and that could lead to moderation for the sake of justifying the contract.

Yesterday they said yes

Expecting exclusivity from anyone is completely unrealistic, yet that is exactly what so many other forums imply by their actions. So you won't be able to post a link back to 'Beefy's Guide to Turning Giftcards into Cash Via Clicking on Buttons That Lenders Provided Themselves'. Their loss.

This is great! Thanks for the thread/post! What does this mean though? What is the 'power' of a Credit Mentor? Can they delete, silently edit, lock, or move posts still? I look at my inbox over the last year or so and I think 2 messages are from members and another 10 or more are messages from the mods spanking and warning me about something. If they lost their delete and edit powers, you are looking at one happy potato! The only mod I think I liked was UB. Won't miss R at all!!!!!!!!!!!! I just looked and UB is a Credit Mentor. FS is a Moderator Emeritus? KB is a Credit Mentor. R is a Credit Mentor. What does Moderator Emeritus mean?

Moderator Emeritus means "used to be a mod but they get to keep the title anyway as thanks." I did notice the Credit Mentor list was a lot shorter than the mod list was too.
