Macy’s Superthread

I’ll go ahead and start the super thread because I know it’s going to be big. This is one of the most well known retail cards for rapid CL increases. Just be aware that limits allocated here may take away from those Citibank would give you on their legacy cards.

This is the card (along with the Bloomingdale) that grows by leaps and bounds after 31 days.
Every 31 days! ....well it's hit or miss. 60 days, 90 days...still a big-time grower.

Last summer on a whim I app'd and got the Amex Macy's & Bloomies Amex. Not knowing at the time that they would take away from the Citibank exposure limit because the app's were from a different bank I was hitting those cli's hard. I was also shopping those cards hard.
So guess what I did? I closed both after a few months.

There weren't any promotional purchases I could make with either of these cards and I didn't need anymore credit so I closed them out without any regret during a culling of the cards session.

Didn’t Citi say they were dropping this card?

They have the option to drop Macy's due to an old clause, but that still gives Citibank one year from June 4th (?) 2021 to renegotiate with Macy's or let them walk clean. They did this because sales fell below 34% (pandemic manic) which allowed Citi to cut bait.

Kind of a crazy development.

Yes I read about this. Interesting and seems like an act of G_d activated the provision of the contract. Well or an act of man, who knows. But the point is, I did hear about that and we will see how that develops. But I do have some news to report:

I have been trying to upgrade my Macy’s to an AMEX for, well, forever now. They always say you have to wait for it to pop up. So I wrote and asked them and explained just how many decades I have been waiting and asked if they could intervene.

They told me they did and that it’s upgraded, so that’s awesome one less PLCC!!! Yay!!! I never did get the pop-up Smarty got. Now I’m just waiting on the mail.

Edit: When I get it I will believe it. On chat separately talking to Citibank they told me my account was being reviewed from DC to custom. When I asked the next CSR, they told me the first one was full of shit.

Hahaha! That right there is why I'd never make it as a CSR.....I'd be calling everyone a BS'er. Hopefully though, the one that told you your card is being converted is not full of bull doonky.
