What’s in your wallet? 2023 Q3

With a new quarter comes new rotating categories and a new strategy for our credit cards. I will be using mine this quarter as follows:

• Apple Pay: Disco 5%

• Groceries: Citi Custom Cash 5%

• Dining (non-Apple Pay): Chase Amazon until 7/31 for 4%, CSP or Citi Costco for 3% thereafter

• Gas at Costco: Citi Costco 4%

• Gas not at Costco: CFF 5%

• Travel: CSP

• Recurring Apple subscriptions and potential iPhone purchase in September: Apple Card 3%

• Amazon: Chase Amazon 5%

• Costco: Citi Costco 2%

• Online shopping: BofA CCR 5.25%

• Everything else: BofA CCR 1.75%

For me since I’m done with my Ness SUB I’m using 3 cards right now.

Discover anywhere that takes digital wallet that isn’t dining.

Amex gold for dining.

Amex EDP for non-digital wallet

I did not get my 10% statement credit offer (gas/groc/dine) on my SYW MC for Q3, so bummed.

So.... 5% for gas - pick your duplicate poison - freedom, nusenda, or Disco (boo, on the overlap). 5% for dining with citi CC. I don't have a 5% grocery right now, boo, so 3% AOD it is. I like to always get 5% CB minimum for gas/groc/dine. Oh well.

freedom for 5% live entertainment (too bad it doesn't include movies). Not into digi wallets so no Disco 5% there (hate having a password on my phone).

5% for amazon (Chase), Target (Red Card), and Wal-Mart on-line (Cap 1) of course.

Discover 5% on Apple Pay.

Dining will hopefully be on the Altitude Go if US bank ever gets around to approving the damn card. If I get declined, then I’m stuck with the Affinity Cash Rewards with just 2% back for dining unless the place takes Apple Pay.

Affinity Cash Rewards for Amazon though I am tempted to go for the Amazon Chase card just for the $200 for Prime Day. Hmm…

Amex BCP for grocery and streaming. Transit too.

Disco 10% - Groceries, liquor store, 7-11, most physical stores around us

SavorOne 10% - Uber tips

Citi Custom Cash 5.55% - dining

AOD 3% - everything else

I don't currently have a cell bill so that sockdrawers the Cash+ (my other category is electronics stores so unless we make a trip to my candy store aka Micro Center, no use for this one, as Best Buy and Newegg both take Apple Pay and Apple Pay counts for the Disco digital wallet on websites unlike Google Pay) and the rest of my cards are 3% or lower.

Good point @Saeren , I stand corrected. My citi CC will be 5.55% for dining, not 5%, No gas for you?

Since the beginning on desktop, but only since last year for mobile/tablet in landscape mode.

Good point @Saeren , I stand corrected. My citi CC will be 5.55% for dining, not 5%, No gas for you?

Husband does all the driving unless he's too impaired and asks me to and he buys all the gas anyway but he's not interested in juggling more cards. He has Autograph and Active Cash with Wells Fargo and the Chase Amazon card and he doesn't really care much about what card he uses for what either lol.

Ahhh! I feel you. mrs. ptatohed does go along with my card juggling, but only to appease me. She would never do it on her own, nor does she enjoy it in any way, but she does 'tolerate' and accept and adhere to (for the most part) the sticky-note cheat sheet I make her for her wallet each quarter.

At least in Windows 10 Edge + Chrome + Firefox, with a browser window greater than 576 pixels wide.
