He got the Discover Student Card with a $1500 limit. Reported $15k income. He started with a score of 720 per EX. Only 2 of the cards I added him to were reporting to the bureaus though. My Quicksilver and my Discover. From reason, my Amex wasn’t. Both had 0 balances because I optimized my score to grab the US Bank Altitude Go this month. I thought the Amex would be reporting a small balance for him, but apparently not. I also had him apply for the Savor One card just to have a stronger base with 2 cards if possible. We’re waiting to hear back from Capital One on that though. They asked him to upload his driver’s license and SS card. He was pre approved for it though.

He just got the Savor one card now too. Applied for both last night, but Capital One needed to take a look at his driver’s license and ss card. $500 limit on that one, but it’ll come in handy for Uber Eats, going to the movies, dining, etc…

It would be great to get a data point with one of those AU cards reporting 1-4% utilization, with $0 reporting on his own cards! No pressure, of course! I've never seen that on a new credit file. Could be a pretty good gain above 10 points, considering my friend's first credit score was 750 with a single card and 4% reporting. Her non-AU AZ loss is -20 points on EX8, -12 on TU8. We already know from someone at MF that an 18 year old can get to 800 in 2 years (20th birthday was his goal) with 4 cards. My friend is at 788 now with a single card at 2y0m.

I can have one of my cards report a small balance for sure this month, but whether he will give me his score when asked is another matter. He certainly won’t for an online forum, so I’ll need to come up with another excuse…

Also, I have no way to guarantee his own cards will report with a $0 balance on any given month, He’s already used to never using his debit card for anything. He will be using the credit cards for all his purchases.

All good, @Tinkegrrl ! I understand how difficult it can be to line up everything just right.
