I'll preface this by noting 1 point is meaningless, but since I like to go down the rabbit hole of figuring out every score change I have as best as I can I'll keep going. Got my 3B pull from myFICO today and the only score that went down was my EX Bankcard 8 that dropped a point to 693. I can't seem to figure out why it went down when EX8 Classic went up +2 and every other EX score from all models increased by +5 or more. Last month I was $1268/$10000, $723/$5000, $0/4500, $0/$2300, $0/$2300 -->$1991/$24100 for 8.3% aggregate. This month I was $1320/$10000, $681/$5000, $0/4500, $0/$2300, $0/2300-->$2001/$24100 still 8.3% aggregate. Utilization had no significant differences and I have one less scoreable HP on EX and TU from my BCP app no longer being scoreable. Any ideas as to what's causing this? I'm really trying to satisfy my curiosity on this.

It may be a $2000 threshold.

That thought crossed my mind, but it seemed odd that it would show on Bankcard 8 but not classic 8, bankcard 9 or classic 9. EX 9 and EX BC 9 were both +8 when EX BC 8 went down. Got my next report today and I'm slightly higher yet on aggregate now with a $2052 total reported, but all scores except for the FICO 10 suite stayed the same.

Well, for example, EX2 is much more sensitive to dollar balance thresholds. You may have found a $2000 threshold that only exists on EX BC8. A person with a very mature credit file discovered balance thresholds on EX2 all the way down to around $123 (forgot the exact figure, quite low though)!

Really? This is the first time I'm hearing about this and I'm intrigued. Do you have a link to their findings/testing? Do you know if the data they came up with is clean and can be trusted? Did they use Fico negative reason codes to correlate with the score change(s)? Thanks for anything more you can provide on this!

Effect of low balances on my scores (HeavenOhio, Senior Contributor, myFICO Forums, Dec 2019) It's mostly 5-4-2 scores. Also see Message #6 in that thread! "To update this, I get my AZEO scores with a $129 balance, but $179 dings me."

My first guess would have been Thomas Thumb for that post. I wonder how much difference my dirty profile makes as well...maybe I would have lost more than one point on a clean profile(my understanding was that a dirty profile is less sensitive to utilization), though my score would still be significantly higher.

Great info! HO is a solid source, too. I don't recall reading that post in 2019 when I was still there. Interesting and definitely a solid data point proving the existence of raw dollar thresholds exclusive of utilization percentage. Now if someone can just link South Jamaica to that thread maybe he'll learn something ;)
