CreditCheckTotal which I believe is part of Experian.com. $1 trial for 3 bureau FICO 8 scores and reports. Cancel in 7 days or less to avoid the re-occurring monthly charge. Wash, Rinse, Repeat as necessary. AnnualCreditReport free weekly credit reports until April 2022. No FICO scores.

Credit.com or Credit.com/extracredit/adv. I haven't tried that site yet. It appears there is a free monthly trial. I'm not sure if you can cancel and reup numerous times.

Take advantage while you can. That is if you can pass EQ security questions.

If EQ online reports are not accessible, one can obtain their credit reports via USPS mail by calling the automated line. The telephone number should be displayed on the site after failed attempt. I don't recall what that number is at the moment. ETA 888-836-6351. Listen to the prompts to direct you. I just obtained my EQ report just now, was lucky at this attempt.

Costco sent me something about an $8.99 monthly 'credit monitoring service' called Complete ID, which is 'part of Experian'. It's all VANTAGE SCORES! (See here: https://www.costco.com/identity-protect ... vices.html ) I immediately thought "Wow, cool, maybe I can get the $14.99 basic Experian plan with daily FICO scores for $8.99 through Costco!". I hate how all these various Identity Protection & Credit Monitoring services make these nice splash pages about everything they offer and then bury the part about it all being useless VS3 scores! All those should be on the AVOID LIST. Equifax and TransUnion have their own fake credit monitoring service that should be avoided as well. I always felt bad when someone signed up for one of those and then found out the score was worthless.

Funny you mention that. I was on the phone with EQ yesterday morning for a while. On my EQ report my name is listed two ways: First name, last name, suffix. That's correct. Then the second way it's listed First name, suffix, last name. That's incorrect, as the suffix then appears to be a middle initial. I don't have a middle name, so I have no middle initial. Trying to explain that to a guy that didn't speak my language well was difficult to say the least. After a bit I think he was able to make the necessary change. I then told him I was recently denied credit related to the EQ inquiry (which he could see) and that I would like a copy of my EQ report sent to me. He said I'd receive it in 10 days. Hopefully since he made the name adjustment prior it will appear correct on my CR, but maybe not. I could always fax my EQ report over to AOD if they legit can't access it for whatever reason, although I'm sure that's not protocol in the least.

Yeah this is important information for those that are new to credit, as they don't understand the differences between scoring models. They think a score is a score. Not good if it's not meaningful! We need to make sure we're informing them that the monitoring and reports are why many CMS are used, not for their [VS] credit scores provided.

That was me in January 2018. I paid for credit monitoring with credit score through LastPass. which I was using as a password manager for a long time. ( I use and recommend BitWarden now. $10 a year too!) I called those services 'fake', but yeah they work fine for credit monitoring. I just think that with Experian out there giving away 7 daily FICO scores for $9.99 a month through their mobile app, people should at least get some kind of FICO score on a CMS they're paying for. Most of the ones out there with 'identity protection' in the name are around $15 a month, and only come with a VS3 score.

I think the vast majority out there has no idea what they're getting from a CMS and that most of these outfits prey upon that.

Indeed they do and I think there is no better deal really than Experian 999 deal which is the 1499 deal at a discount. The only thing is it’s limited to Experian.

Has anyone done a $1 CCT trial lately? I haven't done one in years, but back in my hay day I was doing them multiple times per month. Just curious what if anything has changed since that time. I'm thinking of doing one just to brush up on them so that I can offer solid advice. I'd also like to see if all of the new inquiries I've taken on that MF can't see are visible with a CCT trial.

I have not done one in a long time. I think one of the reasons I stopped using it was because I had to create new user names to get the $1 price. Maybe things have changed since then? I've been using the Experian CreditWorks℠ Premium free trial which converts to $24.99 per month after 10 days. Been a couple times I forgot to change the plan and downgrade to the CreditWorks℠ Basic and was charged but it was worth it to have 30 days of daily score updates when I was testing utilization.
