I'm surprised this hasn't been posted here yet. It's 6 and growing pages already at MF. The day (we all knew was looming) has come. AOD 3% CB has been nerfed. 7.49% APR raised to essentially 18% ( I don't care one bit about that) but :heartbreak: , the 3% CB is capped at the first $1500 spent per month. This completely ruined my day. I have not received my letter yet. The letter below is a "borrowed" image. So bummed man. So sad.

I can see this affecting a few niche spenders, but 1,500 general spend on a catch all per month isn’t bad per say. If you are routinely exceeding 1,500 per month on your catch all card you have a hole or several in your card portfolio, that could likely should be filled with a few dedicated 5% cards. To put in perspective that is 4 times the limit on most quarterly rotators.

Yeah just saw this on DOC and reddit.

Honestly doesn't affect me much. The most I ever spent on this card in a month was less than $600 and I never carried a balance.

It is kind of funny that my new Double Cash just got here yesterday, which I promptly called and had them merge my TYP pools, giving me 2.22%.

It's crazy that they set the interest at basically 18% though. That's quite the hike!

Ha, yeah 9.5% margin + current prime = 18%, so even A-tier borrowers will be at the max rate right now. Quite a jump from the 7-something % it was before. But it did look like a pretty unsustainable product as it was, esp for a small-ish CU that found itself in the position of basically subsidizing the rewards of out-of-state FotM cardholders w/ its income from active, home members. I'm honestly surprised this card lasted as long as it did without a nerf, but four years of uncapped, uncategorized 3% seems like a great run to me, for those that were able to get it.

Well, I respectfully disagree with you guys. We spend (spent?) easily $2500 - $3000 every month using the 3% CB AOD uncapped non-cat card. Sometimes more on one-time or seldom-time purchases. Insurances (car, home, health), brick and mortars (in-store WalMart, Dollar Tree, etc.), utilities/streaming (yes I can get 5% which I may just now), my daughter's dance studio and my son's karate, one-timers like my home theater on-line seating/projector/screen/receiver, $7000 (the max the dealer allowed) of my wife's 2022 Telluride in Fall of '21, the $2500 sectional we bought from Mor earlier this year, I can go on and on. While I am grateful the nerf still allows $1500 spend per month (or $540/year), it definitely won't be the lucrative fountain it used to be. :(

You might check out the UMB Simply Rewards. 3% on discount stores (Walmart/Dollar Tree), gas, grocery stores, restaurants, and fast food, with no AF. https://www.umb.com/personal-banking/credit-cards The nerf was inevitable unfortunately and it's not as bad as most everyone expected (3% dropping to 2% or even 1% like previous cards).

Nice lead! Did not know. :) [/quote] It's not a very popular card. UMB is strict with underwriting and the card from UMB is geofenced (which I forgot when I made the reply). There are a bunch of affiliate banks under the First National brand that carry the card with an expanded geofence, you just have to search Google for one in your state. DoC is a good place to get some more info. https://www.doctorofcredit.com/umb-simp ... fast-food/ Check the earliest posts to see some of the affiliate banks.

Thanks for the lead. I don't think I knew about that card. The only category I would consider uncategorized though is the retail stores. The other cats I get 5% on. Not sure it's worth an application to go from a current 2% or 2.2% to 3% just for in-store purchases. I'll probably just set up my AOD to pay ~$1500 worth of bills per month and not even carry it in my wallet any longer. It was a good run!

Not sure if this is the same as retail stores?
