Did Vantage Scores change how they calculate AAoA?

I think VS changed how they calculate AAoA.

For both me and SO on the list of accounts and their accompanying ages, CAs were always included.

I just noticed now while looking at AAoA that SO had the same AAoA for both TU and EQ on CK....which is odd because he has 2 x CAs on EQ....well...no CAs are now listed under AAoA!?

When did this change? Anyone else notice this?

Since CKs front end summary software is all over the place I don't think you'd have any way of knowing. I don't see how the VS3 algorithm would suddenly change though, so my guess is CK just modified their fluff a bit.

BBS is right. Ignore the metrics CK gives you., Those are not the calculations from VS3 algorithm.

Similarly, the ages that MF and Experian and any other CMS calculate for you are not products of the algorithms. The only output from the algorithms are score and reason code/statements.

Everything else is fluff and better calculated yourself, so that you know that it’s accurate, as many times CMS’ frontend is not.

For instance if I recall correctly I think CK frontend only uses open accounts while VS3 use all accounts is that correct BBS?

So the metrics given by the CMS are misleading; they may not be what the algorithm uses.

Yes that is 100% correct. There is conflicting information out there as to whether or not VS3 includes closed accounts in average age the way Fico does and I believe that much of that confusion stems from the CK front end suggesting that only open accounts are included. Back before VS updated their site with the new VS4 model and it was (mostly) all about VS3, it very specifically stated that open and closed accounts were included in VS3 aging metrics. When trying to find that info specifically from VS now on their site, many of the graphics/links are dead and have been replaced with VS4 information. Back on MF one of the veteran members saved a screenshot from VS pre-VS4 that confirmed the answer. I may be able to dig it up at some point and if so will post it.

I was looking at Mint this morning, and they offer VS3.0 and I unfortunately could not SS, but it states that AAoA is for *open* accounts. It is not only CK that states so.

You're right, the wrong information is out there multiple places. I think it's a case of misreported information that is then passed on by others, perpetuating the issue. Think of how many people just from having a CK account pass on to others that VS 3.0 only uses open accounts for AAoA. Other sources have likely adopted the similar misconception and have continued to miscommunicate fiction as fact. You've got to go with the source though, and Vantagescore themselves stating that it includes both open and closed accounts is what matters.

And I got somebody that gave me a link to some thing that says VS3 and 4 use scorecards but I need to go look it up.

Not surprising that they also use scorecards... although I don't see us doing much work trying to figure them out since VS is relatively useless.

I feel like VS is gaining traction and now is being used in conjunction with fico scores or even stand alone for credit decisions. I think it is definitely worth figuring out how some of it works!

I have seen people state their landlord used VS3.0 and we know Sync uses VS4.0. I have also been notified by several banks doing SP stuff (CLI/prequal) that VS3.0 or VS4.0 was used along side Fico scoring for their credit decisions.

My guess is that any lender that provides a VS monthly (Cap One, Chase, Amex, etc) is "using it" to some degree. I mean it's there, so to not use it at least in part wouldn't really make sense. I'm sure some give it more weight than others obviously.
