I requested a CLI on my Lowe's card but was denied, I just received the AA letter and was surprised to see some of the negative reason codes. VS4_neg_reasons.jpg Lack of real estate secured loan information does not seem like it should be the top negative factor of my profile, I currently have two cards with over 80% utilization so reasons 2 and 4 make sense. But the most interesting reason code was the "Average Credit Limit on Open Bankcards is too Low". I was not aware that VS evaluated credit limits as a scoring factor, and apparently it is weighed heavier than having multiple cards with high balances.

Very interesting find! What is your ACL currently?

When you view your VS4 score through your Lowe's account, how many of those negative reason statements are provided? Do you see all 5, or do they limit you to less than that with your provided score?

Do you have any CLI potential on your other cards upcoming that may increase your ACL? It would be cool to try and find the threshold point for ACL on VS4.

ACL for July 1st was $5,624. Currently it is sitting at $6,239, hoping to get a CLI on my Apple Card soon, was denied due to not enough spend so I am making it my primary use card for the next couple of months. Hoping to get some additional CLIs as I can, it will be interesting to see at what point that is no longer a negative reason code. With the provided score I am limited to just the top two negative reason codes. So tracking when the code disappears will be a bit challenging. Not sure how much I want to poke the bear that is Synchrony.

Very interesting that VS4 has that code. That makes two known score versions that score CL's directly, this and CBIS. I don't know that I like that these models are using ACL as a scoreable factor, since credit scores are not supposed to take income into account and income is one of the biggest determinants of what sort of CL's you can get.

I thought that may be the case with only 2 negative reason statements on the account. I haven't heard much about adverse effects of several CLI attempts with Synchrony over a reasonable period of time. For testing purposes, I wouldn't imagine any potential threshold would be crossed related to ACL that isn't at a clear 1k increment. That said, perhaps consider making another attempt once your ACL is > $7k, or $8k. Of course at some point you'll be approved for that CLI, then testing goes out the window ;)

I guess it really depends on where the threshold point is for ACL. I think that it would be possible for many with below average income to obtain somewhat (relatively) strong ACLs, possibly above the threshold point. I believe that profile is going to win out over income in the majority of cases. Someone with low income for example that has a strong profile (clean, thick, aged) will be able to acquire and maintain greater CLs in many cases than someone with high income that has a weak (dirty, thin, young) file. I do understand your point and you're correct that all other things being equal, someone with greater income is going to have greater ACL top end potential.
