Outlier
LaHossBoss has been gardening for over 2 years.
Just made an interesting finding.
It has (maybe) been sometimes thought that after a certain threshold of inquiries, you may reach a max and no longer lose points, but up until then, you lose points for each inquiry.
Well, for my two recent apps, I noticed a couple interssting DPs.
On EQ, I had 4 inquiries in the past 2 years, of which 1 was in the last 12 months.
I added an inquiry from Citi for the Best Buy card, and my Fico8 dropped -6pts.
I can live with that. 2 inquiries drop in Feb and 1 more in April, so that will bring me down to 2 recent inquiries shortly.
Now, for TU, I had 2 inquiries in the past 2 years, of which zero were in the last 12 months.
I added an inquiry from US Bank for the Cash+ card, and my Fico8 lost 0pts!
Those 2 earlier inquiries will drop shortly - 1 in Feb and 1 in May. That will leave me with only the most recent inquiry from US Bank.
I just found it curious, that with a lower number of inquiries on TU, and none within the past 12 months, that I lost no points for the new inquiry. While, EQ has 5 inquiries now, and I still lost a decent chunk for my most recent one.
Maybe it is a much higher threshold, like 10 inquiries that one stops losing pts, but that still makes no sense with not losing a single pt on TU, especially since I had no inquiries in the last 12 months. Maybe they just weigh inquiries differently?
Thoughts?
