EX8, No loss for crossing individual 70%!

I would’ve never guessed this, but I had no penalty for crossing 70% individual when it’s the highest.

EX can be surprising sometimes with how little it responds to utilization.

I would have expected a score hit, so yes it is a bit surprising!

I'd love to see how TU/EQ reacted to the same profile change.

That’s weird. I saw a 7 pt change when I crossed that threshold. I assumed that’s what caused it, but maybe not.

One difference between our profiles is that I had/have a 30D on mine. You have no baddies, right? Is it possible that affects signal strength of the Util measurements?

That would be my guess. While a 30D doesn't result in a dirty scorecard, I don't think it would be out of the question that it could somehow impact signal strength of Amounts Owed. Good subject to further investigate going forward for sure.

No I don’t think it’s possible that it affects the signal strength of a factor in an entirely different category. We still have yet to find one that conclusively affects one in the same category, so color me very skeptical. I definitely have a theory as to why, there’s definitely a threshold there, no doubt about that & I have no doubt that your measurement is correct. You’ll see where I have described my theory in other threads probably, but if you look in the Primer, example Scorecard, scoring factors from each category add up to give the contribution from that category. And each category total is added to get your score. If each category has a maximum contribution for a particular Scorecard, what happens if the factors in a category add up to more than that max contribution? Well, the maximum that category can contribute is the maximum, so anything over that would just not go towards the final score. So in a nutshell, I think my ‘amount of debt‘ category is over the max for my scorecard, such that seven points was not enough to overcome the buffer, hence no change. Thoughts? When it comes to the discussion of signal strength and amount of possible points per category (a ceiling, if you will) do we not think it's possible that a ceiling being moved in one category could potentially impact the ceiling of another. Or, not necessarily the ceiling itself, but the ability perhaps of being able to achieve that ceiling?

You don't mean that, do you? What about scorecards? As just one example too obvious to need stating, the signal strength of many things change with a change in payment history from no baddies to one 60D. Perhaps the skepticism you are expressing is about variations in signal strength within a given scorecard.

@BrutalBodyShots no I believe each category is separate. The only time I’ve heard a theory about signal strength changing from a change in another factor was from TT, but even he eventually recanted that. So I know of no example where that has been true yet, not saying that it couldn’t be. @Justaguy Sure, many of the cat maxes & factor weightings are definitely different per scorecard, but I mean in a particular Scorecard, each category will potentially (there could be some that are the same) have different category maxes and each Scoring Factor will likely have unique weightings per Scorecard. And that’s gonna be the difference between the Scorecards: the category maximums and the signal strength of scoring factors, in my opinion. Which keep in mind, the percentages that they give for each category, if you read the fine print, are only estimates because they do vary by scorecard. But, you’re right, I should’ve phrased that better. It’s great to have you here helping us think the stuff out, I’m so glad you came! You definitely have a good analytical mind for this as well. And the more people we have thinking about it and sharpening each other, the more we will find! We have a great group. And it’s only gonna get better!

Since you ruled out 70% originally as being a non-factor, do you attribute those 6 points to the 50% threshold?

I’m not sure and I’m not sure if there’s a balance threshold somewhere in there.

What was the before/after balance? Anything stand out as being a potential dollar threshold?

I’m re-reading through this thread and upon rereading this comment, maybe that is possible. We know that a 30 day late does not cause Scorecard reassignment to a dirty card, but its from the most important category that contributes the most. So what does a 30 day late do? Does it lower just the ceiling for that category or for all categories, or does it just limit the final score? If it had implications outside of its own category, that would interfere with the allocated percentages which we know may vary by scorecard anyway. But it seems to me if you penalize most important category, you would be adequately penalizing. But there’s no way to say for sure. I theorize it impacts the payment history category only. I think it lowers the maximum contribution from that category. Meanwhile back at the ranch, I just lost 6 points on EX8 for crossing the 50% threshold! I think I’m gonna report 70 next month and see what happens this time. I’m gonna finish re-reading the thread so I may have another comment.

Yeah so it looks like the 50% threshold is worth 6 points on this scorecard. I think I’ll go up to 70% again and see whether there’s a change this time.
