Yes correct, I have had $1 report. I also have had > $1 "forgiven" by lenders. I had a thread at the old forum about this, but don't remember the details. I think it may have been Discover and/or Capital One that forgives $2-$2.49 or so?

When my new Citi Rewards+ account posted to my credit report for the first time earlier this month, it had a balance of $0.01. It reported as $0 and the balance was not waived. I was surprised that it was reported as zero, but not surprised the balance was not waived. I would advise anyone to always report a balance of at least $1 to avoid the all zero penalty.

Since some lenders will not report a small dollar balance of (say) $1-$3, the best piece of advice to give would be to allow at least a $5+ balance to report. I always say something in the $5-$20 is best, as it is sure to report as non-zero and will always come in at a single digit utilization percentage even on a toy limit bank card.

I agree with most of what's been said here ready. Best advice is $5+ in my opinion to avoid the lender forgiving a small balance (Discover is known for this) and inadvertently triggering the AZ penalty/score loss.

The METRO2 format that all lenders are required to use when reporting to the bureaus doesn't have fields that accept decimal values.

Every dollar amount on it is integer/whole numbers only. They couldn't report 1.80 if they wanted to! The guidelines say to truncate the fractional part - never rounding - so 1.80 becomes $1 even.

1 through 99 cents can only be 0 on that report.

This is exactly the advice that I also give. I agree 100%. And I was about to say what Cassie said, but she beat me to it and said much more eloquently than I could have. Two dollars or under Discover forgives, if not it was three.

I had a thread over at the other place from years ago, probably 2017 or so where I started a list of lenders that would forgive a small balance and what that balance was. I don't know if anyone ever added to it.
