I got a rather tempting mailer for the Amex Blue Cash Preferred. $375 sign up bonus after spending $3000 in 6 months, which is doable and better then the $350 I see on their site. First year’s fee waived. Also, who doesn’t need 6% cash back on groceries right now? Thing is, I’m also after Affinity’s Cash Back Rewards card, which I was going to go for within the next month or two. Amazon is a pretty big spending category for me, and I especially want the card for Amazon’s Prime Day. Would it be possible to grab both within a month or so of each other? Here’s what I’ve got so far: Capital One Quicksilver opened 3/21 $2900 CL Discover It opened 4/21 $1500 CL Cred.ai opened 5/21 $1500 CL Apple Card opened 9/21 $11400 CL Affinity Pure Rewards opened 1/22 $2000 CL FICO scores 752 EX 741 EQ 742 TU I’m largely worried I’m going too fast with my young credit file, but I like free money too much too not try and get cards to cover all my spending categories. Should I grab the Amex now, or wait a bit?

It looks like you've got over a year of history and have only opened 2 revolvers in the last 12 months. Amex is pretty decent when it comes to approvals on a younger file, so I think you'd get it. That's a nice SUB for that card and the AF makes it worthwhile at least for that year. After that point you'd have to access whether or not the card would be worth it for groceries if you factor in that AF.

I don't know enough about Affinity regarding their constraints to new accounts, so maybe others can weigh in on that. I'd probably shoot a message to CS over there and let them know that you're considering applying for another card from them and see if they can offer any insight. Do you have any loan offers on your account with them?

If you do decide to go for both, I'd suggest pulling the trigger on them at the same time so that neither has the ability to see the other on your CR.

That’s the thing. I don’t have offers yet. I was hoping to wait maybe till the next round to see if anything pops up as I’m a More member now? Offer from Amex expires 7/31 though, so I suppose i can wait to do both till then…

Gotcha. I hear you. The next round of offers should populate the first or second week of July (beginning of Q3) so I would sit tight until then. It's not to say you wouldn't get approved without an offer, just that their offers are nearly rock solid from my understanding, so you'd be way more confident if you had one. I don't know how Affinity is with younger files, but since you already have one of their cards my guess is that they're alright with them.

Wait on the offers to populate before you decide. To be honest I think they’re pretty liberal so if you have to I think you can still do both but do you know the offers are better if they populate and it will be better if you don’t have a new account or inquiry so I would wait, imho.
